Melanie Walters is a flautist and PhD candidate at the University of Adelaide. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Sydney, and received a Dean’s Commendation for her Master of Music degree at the University of Adelaide in late twentieth century Australian flute music. Her PhD is on the flute music of German-Australian composer Felix Werder, and she was the recipient of the 2012 Naomi Cumming Postgraduate Student Prize for her PhD work. She is a founding member of the Stables Flute Ensemble and has performed with many other ensembles including the Soundstream Collective, the Panorama Ensemble, Chronology Arts and various orchestras. Recent performances include Paradise in Spinoza’s Cabinet Closing Night, the 2012 Soundstream and Earin Festivals in Adelaide, the 2011 Totally Huge New Music Festival Conference in Perth and the 2010 Helpmann Academy Delusions of Grandeur Showcase Performance.
The recital will conclude by approx 7pm so that you enjoy a la carte dining in the Colonel Downs Dining Room or if you prefer, an informal meal in the members bar.
